other than golf being invented
Orcs from the Misty Mountains began to trouble parts of Eriador in the year 2740 (Third Age). In 2747 Hobbits led by Bandobras Took fought Orc raiders from Mount Gram at Greenfields in the Northfarthing. Bandobras struck off the head of the goblins-king Golfimbul, sending the Orcs into retreat and winning the battle. The Battle of Greenfields was the first and last battle fought in the Shire until the Battle of Bywater at the end of the War of the Ring.
I never understood how someone could be decapitated with a blunt object, but I will let that slide.
The head of Golfimbul landed inside a rabbit hole. I think that had the unintended consequence of an entire family of rabbits dying from heart attack upon seeing the goblin's head inside their home.
Ol' Bandobras must have been charging the Orc-king on horseback to have been able to hit him with a wooden club with enough force to knock his head clean off.
The answer to any query is always simply, magic. Perhaps Eru intervened?
@Dungeonwyrm No, but that is a hilarious answer!
